  • 1.Stick to color blue, make it your favorite color 

You would be surprised to know that fast food restaurants hardly use color blue to decorate their place. Few studies have found that blue acts as an appetite suppressant. On the other hand color red, yellow and orange encourage eating habits. So if you are planning to lose weight or cut down your diet just cover your dining area with blue including the table cloth and plates. 

  • 2.Sit and Eat in front of a mirror 

The idea is when you sit and eat while looking at yourself it tends to remind you of your goal to lose weight hence you tend to consume less food. In fact some studies have observed it to decrease your diet up to one-third of daily intake. 

  • 3.Carry a notebook with yourself everywhere 

Follow it for a week and you will find the difference in your daily intake yourself. This is one tried and tested method. Pen down every intake by your body in a notepad, include water as well. This way you will be very sure what intake you are taking and it will cause an alarm in case you take an exempted food item. This way you will be less inclined to consume that food next time. Studies have shown 15% less consumption of food by those who maintain a food diary compared to those who don’t. 

  • 4.Walk for 45 minutes a day 

The reason we are stressing for 45 minutes is because a study has shown that walking for 30 minutes a day is enough to prevent weight gain. Walking beyond 30 minutes leads to burning of extra calories hence helps in losing weight. 

  • 5.Throw off your old ‘fat’ clothes 

Try it this way, once you reach to your desired weight; give your old clothes which don’t fit anymore. Hence once you start gaining weight and tend to move towards buying lose clothes it will act as a barrier since you will have to spend money on the new clothes and you will prefer to manage your slim physique. 

  • 6.Small is Beautiful 

Try reducing the size of your plate and bowls you use to eat and also use small sized serving dishes. Same goes for liquids. Try using smaller coffee mugs and glasses. The theory on this says the lesser food is put in front of you the less you’ll eat. Try this for a week and let us know your observation. 

  • 7.Brain vs. Stomach 

This is for sure a very interesting point we have here; your brain actually lags behind your stomach when it comes to realizing fullness (satiety) of the meal. When you start eating your brain tends to realize the fullness of the meal and hence you may tend to eat more than you may require. For this we can suggest you to eat slowly and calmly probably have a minute break twice while having your meal. This will help your brain to catch up with your stomach and will be able to generate signal at the right time.
