Ok, you are probably a little confused right now. I just got done talking about how the key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you eat, and now I am telling you to add to your diet? Yup! That is exactly what I am telling you. You want to add fruits and veggies to your diet to replace the foods that you snack on when you get hungry. Next time you get hungry, snack on fruits and veggies. A lot of times we think that won’t stop our hunger, but when was the last time you tried it?   • 2-Just Be Active 

One thing that really frustrates me is when people make working out and exercising so complicated. In fact, many people don’t workout and exercise because they don’t understand the proper way to do it. I am here to tell you that there is no such thing as the perfect workout routine. Just be active! If you want to go for a jog then go for a jog, if you want to go play basketball then play basketball. Just do something every day that involves you being active. If you do something active every single day you won’t have to stress about nothing having the perfect exercise routine. 

  • 3-Take A Walk  

There are going to be days when you REALLY don’t feel like being active. One of the best tips for losing weight I can give you on days you are just not motivated at all and really don’t want to be active is to go on a simple 30 minute walk. I promise that you will feel much better about yourself after going on the walk, and you won’t have to feel guilty about not doing anything that day. 

  • 4-Don’t Eliminate Your Favorite Foods 

A lot of people feel like they need to eliminate all their favorite unhealthy foods from their diet if they want to lose weight, and if they don’t then they will never be able to reach their goal weight. First off, I just wanted to say that there is nothing wrong with having foods like pizza or hamburgers every once in a while. You don’t need to feel guilty about eating them as long as you don’t do it very often. Also, you don’t need to eliminate those foods from your diet completely. If you love pizza, then start buying the type of pizza’s that have fewer calories. There are plenty of them out there. In fact, there are a few pizza’s out there I would actually consider healthy! There is always a healthier alternative for your favorite foods, just take the time to find them. 

  • 5-Drink Plenty of Water 

Our body needs a lot of water in order to function properly. The sad truth is the fact that most of us don’t get the amount of water that we need. When we don’t hydrate our bodies enough, it will cause our metabolism to slow down which will obviously mean you aren’t going to burn nearly as many calories as you would have. A great trick is to drink a glass of water right before you eat your meal and then drink a glass of water right when you are done with your meal. That is probably one of the tips for losing weight that you have never heard of before, but it works really well! 

  • 6-Don’t Be Selfish, Share Your Food! 

Many people feel like they need to eat all the food on their plate by themselves. You don’t need to do this! You don’t even need to eat to the point where you feel full, you want to eat to the point right before you feel full. The reason for this is because it takes a few minutes for your brain to catch up to your body to realize you actually are full and can stop eating. So once you hit the point where you are satisfied but still a little hungry, just stop eating! Whenever I go out to eat I always share my food with the people I am out to eat with.

That is a funny tip right? I bet you have never heard anyone tell you one of the best tips for losing weight is to watch TV. So why am I telling you this? Because TV shows have commercials and most of us hate watching commercials. Instead of turning the channel during a commercial, why don’t you try doing a couple sets of pushups and sit ups? You will be amazed at how many pushups and sit ups you can do in a single day by just watching TV! 

  • 8-Use Smaller Plates 

As humans, it is natural to want to fill up your whole plate with food because we feel like if we don’t we are just wasting food and being rude to whoever made it. In order to avoid this, just use a smaller plate. This way you can still fill up your whole plate but you won’t be eating near as many calories! 

  • 9-Find An Accountability Partner 

It is so much easier to do anything in life when you have someone else to do it with. You should find someone else who has the same goals as you and you guys should hold each other accountable. This is one of those tips for losing weight that isn’t talked about very often, but it can really help! If you are having a craving for unhealthy food, just call up your accountability partner and talk about something else to get your mind off it. 

  • 10-Be Patient 

The problem with the world we live in today is we want everything to be instant. If you want to lose weight and you realize tomorrow morning you still haven’t lost those ten pounds, don’t give up! I usually tell my clients to make it a goal to lose 1 pound per week. This might not sound like a lot but after one full year that is 52 pounds! How happy would you be if at this time next year you had lost 52 pounds?
